NoPixel (koil) banned from PayPal

The owner koil, from Nopixel, has been permanently limited and banned from PayPal because of copyright infringement content he sells on his page https://www.nopixel.net/ – legal actions might have been taken against him by Rockstar Games / Take Two Interactive Software. Nopixel is one of the biggest FiveM servers since years.

Players that wanted to play on the server had to donate at least 15$ to get on applications, whilst they did not see any refunds / getting money back, if they are rejected.

What is NoPixel?

NoPixel is a Grand Theft Auto V role-play server (third party, not official mod), developed by Koil and many other developers and contributors. The server is run on the third-party multiplayer server system, FiveM. It contains custom scripts created by Koil, and community developers. A huge amount of money was made of this project, from years till today. But now PayPal banned his account.

PayPals rules (AUP) – Acceptable User Policy

The official PayPal rules available on their website

The PayPal AUP (so called Acceptable User Policy) is saying:

You may not use the PayPal service for activities that: (h) items that infringe or violate any copyright, trademark, right of publicity or privacy or any other proprietary right under the laws of any jurisdiction

For exact this reason, Koil was permanently limited off PayPal and can’t use the service anymore. Koil was on air, whilst he noticed that he got banned and canceled the stream immediately.

Rockstar Games takes actions against modders

Rockstar Games does strictly forbid to earn money with modding content or third party software like FiveM. NoPixel abused content of other creators to generate huge amounts of money which was probably not legal for. Recently, the software creator Take Two Interactive (TT2) sued modders which re-engineered and back-coded old GTA-games.

It is common, that original creators of games take legal actions against modders or and third party firms that try to profit from their own works.

Koil (Nopixel) earned much money from FiveM, a third party mod. But how much?

Once the information is investigated, we will post the revenue he earned with his server project Nopixel. We do not have an exact amount yet, but we are on it and we will post updates, once we have those information.

While we wait for an outcome, we have also heard that Rockstar Games / Take Two might have been taken actions against Koils company, called “Koil Content Creation Pty Ltdc”

Koil changed his payment system to crypto immediately

Koil, the owner of Nopixel, cancelled his roleplay and stream while he was banned (as he noticed) and switched to Crypto immediately (Coinbase). We have information that Rockstar/TakeTwo might take legal action against him.
