TakeTwo takes legal action against GrandRP

TakeTwo, the publisher behind popular video game franchises such as Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption, has taken legal action against GrandRP, a popular Grand Theft Auto role-playing server. TakeTwo has reportedly sent a DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) takedown notice to YouTube, requesting the removal of a video featuring gameplay from the GrandRP server.

What is a DMCA?

The DMCA is a United States copyright law that provides protection for owners of intellectual property, including software and video games, from online piracy and unauthorized use. By sending a DMCA notice, TakeTwo is claiming that the GrandRP server is infringing on their copyrights by allowing players to access and play Grand Theft Auto on their server without permission.

GrandRP has not yet commented on the legal action taken by TakeTwo.

GrandRP violates Roleplay Rules of Rockstar

Rockstar Games has recently adjusted their Policy for Roleplay Servers, they forbid any commercial use of their software. However, GrandRP violates this by selling ingame assets such as cars, ingame cash, and so on.

Kinguin stopped selling Ingame Cash for Grand RP

“You can use the voucher to buy a car, clothes and other things within the Grand RP project.”

It has been recently announced that Kinguin, an online marketplace for video game keys and other gaming related items, has stopped selling ingame cash for Grand RP. This decision has come as a surprise to many players who have relied on the platform for purchasing in-game currency.

While it is not clear why Kinguin has made the decision to stop selling ingame cash for Grand RP, it is likely that the company has encountered some sort of legal issue that has led to this decision. This might be related to the TakeTwo legal action. Players who have purchased ingame cash from Kinguin in the past will not be affected by this change, but those who were planning on making future purchases may need to find a new source for in-game currency.

Overall, the news of Kinguin’s decision to stop selling ingame cash for Grand RP has been met with disappointment from many players. It remains to be seen how this change will impact the Grand RP community in the long run – and whether it has to do with the TakeTwo action or not.

Summary

It remains to be seen how this legal dispute will play out, but it is clear that TakeTwo is taking a strong stance against the unauthorized use of their intellectual property. This action serves as a reminder to all players and server owners to be mindful of copyright laws and to respect the intellectual property of others.

Our tip for server owners: Do not monetize any content of Rockstar Games, including cars (or import cars) or ingame cash!

As a server owner, it is important to understand the limitations of what you can and cannot do with popular video games such as Grand Theft Auto (GTA). While it may be tempting to monetize your private FiveM server by charging players for access or in-game benefits, doing so may be a violation of the terms of service for GTA and could result in legal action being taken against you.

One of the primary reasons why monetizing a private GTA FiveM server is not allowed is because it infringes on the copyright of the game. GTA is owned and copyrighted by TakeTwo Interactive, and they have the exclusive right to decide how the game is used and distributed. By charging players for access to your server, you are effectively profiting off of TakeTwo’s intellectual property without their permission.

It is important to remember that while it may be tempting to monetize your private GTA FiveM server, doing so is not only a violation of the terms of service, but it can also have negative consequences for both you and the players on your server. Instead, consider finding other ways to support your server and keep it running, such as through donations or community support.
