Placeables Script

waypoint placeables preview

Waypoint Placeables is a framework that simplifies the creation of usable items that place interactive props in the world. Each item can be customized with default options and easily expanded with custom actions. The framework offers default options for placing, picking up, and configuring items as pushable props. It is user-friendly and highly customizable, enabling the creation of a variety of placeable and usable items using both GTA props and custom props.

Players can utilize placeable props in various ways to enhance their RP scenarios. Examples include constructing a scene of a construction site, establishing a campsite in the woods complete with tents, chairs, and campfires, cordoning off roads for a crime scene, positioning items in the environment for added realism, and many other possibilities.

Overview:

  • Players can activate item placement mode, allowing them to spawn and position props.
  • Initially, a client-side prop is spawned, enabling the player to select its placement location.
  • After confirming placement, the prop is transformed into a networked entity, visible to all players, and the item is removed from the player’s inventory.
  • Props can be interacted with, providing a range of options.
  • Players can arrange multiple props to create custom scenes for immersive role-playing scenarios.
  • At the end, players can clean up the scene, receiving the item back (a default feature).
  • If an item is pushable or sitable, players can cease interaction by pressing ‘E’ (default action).
  • While pushing an item, a monitoring thread ensures players remain in the animation, re-triggering it if interrupted (e.g., by walking through a door).
  • Configuring a prop model also allows naturally spawned world props of the same model to be picked up (e.g., shopping carts).
  • Placed props are temporary and do not persist through server restarts, offering short-term scene setup per server session.

Placement Mode

  • In placement mode, players can precisely position props within a specified radius.
  • Control includes adjusting location, rotation, and height of the prop.
  • Keybindings:
    • E: Confirms the prop’s current position.
    • Shift + E: Attempts to align the prop with the ground.
    • Scroll Wheel Up/Down: Rotates the prop.
    • Shift + Scroll Wheel Up/Down: Raises or lowers the prop.
    • Right-click / Backspace: Exits placement mode without placing the item.
  • During placement mode, the script operates at approximately 0.09ms – 0.1ms due to Raycast usage and real-time capture of player inputs and movements. Once placement mode ends, script execution returns to 0.0ms.
